Nevada releases 2012 softball schedule

The scheduling puzzle in the Western Athletic Conference is now complete.  Nevada became the final WAC school to release its softball schedule for 2012, which will be the Wolf Pack's final season in the conference.

Nevada, along with Fresno State, will join the Mountain West Conference in softball after this coming season.  Additionally, Hawai'i and BYU will be gone from the WAC in softball as well after the 2012 season, which begins February 10 for Nevada.

The Pack opens against former WAC member Boise State at the Aggie Stampede on the campus of UC Davis.  Overall, it's a manageable slate for a Nevada team that has failed to qualify for the WAC Tournament each of the past two seasons.

Scheduling highlights include a trip to the Nike Invitational, where the Pack will meet host Stanford and defending Big West champ Pacific. At the San Diego Classic, Nevada will tangle with a pair of 2011 NCAA Tournament teams in San Diego State and Long Beach State.  In a scheduling oddity, the Wolf Pack will meet the University of San Diego Toreros five times over three consecutive weekends.

In WAC play, Nevada will open by hosting its future Mountain West opponent Fresno State.  The Wolf Pack will make their final trips as a WAC member to New Mexico State, Louisiana Tech and Utah State.
